For better or for worse, I bought a 1957 Brother knitting machine on EBay recently. Okay, I haven't exactly got it thumping out sweaters yet, but the verdict is already "for better." Not only have I had hours of joy and delight playing with it, but its gorgeous, chrome-and-vinyl, green-and-creme presence in my room alone makes me happy on a regular basis. Despite a slight overcrowding problem. It will henceforth and forever be known in my universe as "The Chevy."
